A Helping Hand!

Here at the CPPA we care about our members.
Anytime a life is taken at the hands of another or their own we are devastated.

On this page we have compiled a list of links and resources that
officers can use to identify problems and get help.

Be safe and watch out for each other!

Cops and Anger

Do you think officers ever get angry? Why should they? Don't they have great flexible hours? Don't they make lots of money, just below basketball players' salaries? Don't they have understanding and supportive supervisors? Don't all of the citizens they protect love and admire them? What about those cool cars they ride in?

No? Well, maybe your are right. So, let's look at some ways cops can handle anger and stress.

Take time to have fun
Spend quiet time just relaxing
Eat well balanced meals and take vitamins (no, not a Big Mac and fries)
Learn to do deep breathing (not on the phone)
Get 30 minutes of exercise per day (no, turning on the blue light is not exercise)
Have a support system with whom you talk and share the job stress
Spend quality time with your family
Learn relaxation techniques
Get 8 hours of sleep per day, if possible
Learn guided imagery
Get rid of your buttons (then people won't push them)
